Vitamin C for Babies

Surely you have been asking
yourself if your vitamin C will be good for your child, well the good
news is it is absolutely ok for your child and it is essential for your
baby’s healthy growth and development. It is used in a multitude of
functions throughout the body, including the growth of tissues, healing
after wounds and protection against the common cold. Vitamin C helps
your baby effectively absorb iron and calcium from his food, and we know
that unlike other mammals humans are unable to make their own vitamin
C. Your child does not have to take supplements because nothing beats
fresh fruit and vegetables as a source of bio-available vitamin C. Once
solids become your little one’s primary nutrition source, offering him a
healthy, balanced diet with lots of veggies and fruit should meet all
his vitamin C requirements, without the need for additional, synthetic
vitamins. To ensure that the fruits and veggies you buy for your baby
are truly fresh, you must look for ripe produce and allow it to ripen
because fully ripe fruits and vegetables contain more vitamin C than
unripe. In order to minimize vitamin C loss you need to store your
fruits and veggies in a cold, dark place. And try to serve fruits and
vegetables to your baby raw whenever possible. You can cook fruits and
vegetables for the shortest time possible because over cooking are the
quickest way to destroy their vitamin C content. And try steaming fruits
and vegetables rather than boiling them because in this way vitamin C
is less lost.

If you do boil fruits and
vegetables for your baby, add the cooking water back into the food
whenever possible because this makes use of the vitamin C that has
dissolved
into the water. And did you know that adding a bit of baking in your childs food will help retain their bright color. So now you can prepare your childs vegetables in a different way, now that you know all the tricks.

Your child will love how they taste and maybe he/she wont get enough of the food, so go ahead and look out for more foods that can help your child to grow up into a strong boy/girl.
